HEIRLOOM PORTRAITS
Classic and Timeless
An Heirloom Portrait is a timeless, fine art photograph designed to preserve the essence of childhood beautifully. These portraits often feature a simple, vignette-style backdrop with soft, classic lighting that draws attention to your child’s unique expression and personality.
Rooted in tradition, heirloom portraits are meant to be cherished for generations—gracefully displayed in your home today, and lovingly passed down as part of your family’s visual legacy. Every detail, from the styling to the archival-quality prints, is thoughtfully crafted to create a piece of art that feels both elegant and enduring.
Your heirloom portrait is more than just a picture—it’s a keepsake.
The Heirloom Experience
01 | Who is this for?
Between the ages of 1-12 is a great age for a Heirloom Portrait! As long as your child can sit up on their own, and ideally can reliably sit still for 5 minutes, they are the right age. The sweetspot is before they start to lose their baby teeth.
02 | Where do heirloom sessions take place?
My studio is located in the GoggleWorks, but for a travel + setup fee, I can bring my setup to you if you have the space.
03 | What should my child wear?
These are portraits of the head and shoulders only, so the collar and top of the outfit are the most important. I suggest light or neutral colors, free from logos or patterns.
For girls, smocked bishop dresses are popular, even though the smocked and bishop dresses don’t have a collar, the smocking creates the visual effect of a collar by bringing the focus towards the face. The same is true of any special detailing, such as lace or ribbons. While they aren’t technically collars, they bring focus to the face.
For younger boys, Peter Pan collars are wonderful. Try to select a top with a collar to bring the focus to the face. For older boys, this may be a plain white button-down shirt.
